NFT Math (01/11–01/17)

Hello! And welcome to the NFT Math! What is the NFT Math you ask? It’s a look at the week in NFTs from a box-office point of view. Where I go over a few projects from OpenSea Top 100 in sales volume over the last 7 days and we look at the numbers and storylines from that project. I’m not gonna go over every single project, just some that stand out to me. And we’ll see if I’m gonna turn this into a weekly blog, I hope you guys enjoy it.

1. Bored Ape Yacht Club

Ape is king. #1 on sales volume this week with the new all-time high floor price of 83 ETH. The previous all-time high floor was 75 ETH during the week of Steph Curry joining the club a few months ago. After flipping CryptoPunks recently BAYC now has a solid lead. Unless you count Jimmy Fallon saying gm, nothing big happened, just an amazing community doing amazing things.

2. CryptoSkulls

One of the biggest stories of the week. Project from 2019, the second 10k pfp project after CryptoPunks. They had a huge comeback this week, after averaging less than 1 sale per day and floor price being close to 0, the project took off this week, a lot of it thanks to Gary Vee. They were very close to taking the #1 spot from BAYC.

3. Azuki

From the OG project to a new project, Azuki is still in the pre-reveal phase but already had the floor price of 2.5 and #3 in sales volume on OpenSea. Hype, art and plans for the future sold the Azuki community so far. We’ll see how the project gonna look a week from now after the reveal on January 20.

4. World of Women

World of Women had a huge week! Project from back in July was always one of the favorites in the NFT community. This week project took off from their usual 2–3 ETH floor to 8.35! Honestly, well deserved, the art is great and the community has been amazing as well. Shout out to my friend Ros who I sometimes see rocking her WOW as her pfp!

5. Mutant Ape Yacht Club

BAYC little sibling (am I the only one who thinks of it that way?) didn’t have quite a week as previous ones when the project was really getting some heat, still, it ends the week with a 15.8 ETH floor price. Overall it rises steadily over time, and honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see another run-up from it soon, community and passion behind it are not a bit smaller than BAYC.

8. PhantaBear

The project that took 2022 by storm, released on New Year’s Eve, PhantaBear rocket shipped from 0.2 to 7 ETH high last week. Not surprisingly after such a huge performance it came down to earth this week, right now settling for 3.85 floor. Will be interesting to track this one in the future, as the project targets an international audience.

11. Doodles

Doodles was a darling of the holiday season, taking off from 4 ETH floor price to 11. The price came down a little bit since but then after the announcement of Space Doodles, and the part that it’s gonna be not a separate NFT but the part of your Doodle got the price back at 11 when it stayed pretty much the same this week. Also to note, Doodles got verified on Twitter and one of the co-founders, Poopie, tweeted a really interesting tweet at Dapper Labs CEO Roham. Can’t be more excited for the future of this one!

22. Cool Cats

One of the true blue-chip projects didn’t have a huge sales volume this week, that doesn’t mean tho that the project is not as beloved as ever, with the floor price of 11.8 which is close to the all-time high of 14 ETH. The entire Cool Cats community right now is in the anticipation of Cool Pets drop on January 28th, along with their token. This week they announced 0.5 price to mint a Cool Pet for the allowlist and very limited public sale. Free for Cool Cat holders.

27. Alien Frens

Alien Frens is another project that took off after the holidays, from the mint price of 0.02 to a floor high of 4 ETH. Right now the floor price is 2.7 but the community is as strong as ever, now with 6.1k unique owners. And the team doing a lot of interesting things. Feels like Alien Frens are here to stay!

37. Fomo Mofos

The project just had their public sale last night and these things sold out in less than 20 seconds. With the reveal today and the floor price currently at 0.4, will be interesting to see how this one gonna plays out. People are excited!

44. LinksDAO

This one caught my attention. NFT golf club membership. Fun concept but what got me curious is that this week Steph Curry bought this project, we know he loves golf. With the floor price at 0.65, this one is another to keep your eye on.

48. Coolman’s Universe

Speshies are maybe the cutest NFT project to date. Similar to Alien Frens they had a huge run after the holidays. Right now price is settled around 1 ETH floor. Personally really love this one and the project revealed their updated roadmap this week as well, with a lot of exciting things to come!

65. Stapleverse

From the famous designer, Jeff Staple comes the Stapleverse, described by him as the Marvel Cinematic Universe of NFTs. Currently, at 0.6 floor, the project has its very limited public sale today and the reveal on January 19th with a lot of interesting things to come that you can check out for yourself by looking at their site.

80. Smilesss

Last but not least, despite not having the biggest sales volume, I wanted to shout out the Smilesss! The project was going for 0.2 floor price for a long time now, months, and in my opinion, was one of the most underrated gems in the space, they have everything, good art, good team, good potential and this week finally feels like project got more attention it deserves, settling at 0.7 at the moment. Recently announced partnership with Coinbase got more eyes on it.
